GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Dickinson women's basketball team attempted to head into the Thanksgiving break on a two-game winning streak Tuesday night when they visited local rival and 25th-ranked Messiah University at Hitchcock Arena. Unfortunately, for the Red and White they would struggle shooting the ball all evening as they went 14-of-51 (27.5%) from the floor, 1-16 outside the arc and 7-15 on the foul line en route to a 52-36 non-conference setback to the Falcons.
- A jumper for Clair Marion was the only DC bucket over the first five minutes as the home side led 8-2.
- Marion would then knock down two at the charity line to make it 8-4, before Reese Harden stuck a jumper to lead 10-4 with 5:34 gone.
- That was all the scoring for the period as the teams combined for seven turnovers and ten missed shots to wrap things up.
- Lizzie McGrath buried the Devils lone triple 1:33 into the quarter and Clare Cronley finished off at the rim following a nice dish from Abby John to leave the guests behind 17-9.
- Ainsley Bell, Hope Cook, Charlotte Milanesi and Harden then amassed a 13-0 charge over the final six minutes to take a commanding 30-9 advantage back into the locker room.
- The first two plus minutes would tick away with no scoring until Cronley split two on the line and Victoria Zerbe hit a paint jumper to trim one off the deficit to 32-12.
- Cook answered with a free throw of her own (33-12), but Caitlin Blackman, Emma Landes, Cronley and Marion responded in a big way going on a 12-2 run to pull within 35-24 with 22 seconds left.
- Sydney Hoffman beat the buzzer with a jumper to give the Falcons a 37-24 edge through 30 minutes.
- A running baseline finish by Ella Smith was the only bucket for the Red and White during a 9-2 Falcons flight over the first 4:30 making the score 46-26.
- Dickinson did not go down quiet as Blackman, Cronley and Zerbe tallied eight of the next ten points trimming the margin to 48-34.
- However, the home side collected four of six points during the final minute to set the 52-36 final.
