ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The 23rd-ranked (12th in Division III) Dickinson men's squash team returned to action on Wednesday night by visiting the 15th-ranked United States Naval Academy. Unfortunately, for the Red and White the Midshipmen pulled out a 8-1Â victory inside the Prager Family Squash Center.
Inside the Match
The Devils first win of the night came at the fourth slot where
Owen Buroker brought down Andrew Ko in come from behind fashion after dropping the first game 11-6, he rallied for wins of 11-9, 11-5 and 11-8. Navy put themselves one match away from victory at 4-1 with 3-0 triumphs by Christian Graziano (2nd), Michael Tierney Jr. (6th), Ramsay Killinger (8th) and Hudson Poirier (9th). The Mids then locked up the match at seven when Avinash Uppuluri bested
James Kiracofe in three. Both Alexander Orr (3rd) and Matthew Kang (5th) posted 3-0 wins versus William Krizek and
Gerardo Ortiz respectively. Dickinson had a chance to claim another point at the top of the ladder as
Joe Smythe rallied back from a 2-0 deficit against Wenqing Tang to level the match at 2-2 with game wins of 11-5 and 11-9. Unfortunately, for Smythe in the deciding fifth game he held an 8-7 lead, but was forced to retire allowing the Mid to be given the victory.
