Devils Playoff Push Takes Slight Detour With Setback to #12 Bullets

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Dickinson women's basketball team attempted to build on their two-game winning streak on Wednesday night with a visit to conference-leading and 12th-ranked Gettysburg College. Unfortunately, for the Red and White, the host Bullets used a 12-5 third quarter to help them post a 59-39 win at Bream Gymnasium.

  • Three points for Mia Chapman answered buckets by Alayna Arnolie and Kimberly Hopkins to make it 15-8 with 2:11 left.
  • The Devils would use triples for Leah Dubin and Marion to close within 18-14 after one.
Template - 2nd Quarter
  • A jumper from Caitlin Blackman started the scoring, but Shinya Lee, Adeline Standish and Arnolie tallied eight of the next 11 to jump ahead 26-19 as a Clare Cronley three was the only DC bucket during the run.
  • The teams shared the final ten points with Marion hitting from long-range and Blackman cashing in on another jumper to leave the deficit at 31-24 going to the break.
Template - 3rd Quarter
  • The two sides traded blows coming out of the locker room as a trey from Blackman and Chapman jay left the margin at 36-29 at the 1:51 mark.

  • The home team would close out of the frame with baskets by Emily Violante and Arnolie to make it 43-29 as Dickinson missed their final ten shots of the frame.

  • Gettysburg just continued to build on their lead as Reagan Chrencik, Tatum Murray, Ava O'Neil and Arnolie scored the first eight points to extend their gap to 51-29 with four minutes gone.
