PHILADELPHIA – The 27th-ranked Dickinson men's squash team fell on Friday afternoon to the higher-ranked Saints of St. Lawrence University by a score of 5-4 in the first round of the College Squash Association Team Nationals. The Saints were the second seed in the Summers Cup, while the Red Devils were the seventh seed in the draw.
Inside The Match
The match began slow for the Red and White, dropping the first three matches, with Joe Smythe, Will Krizek and Aidan Ray dropping the first, fifth and seventh flights. The first point of the match came in the second flight, with senior Omar Ali breezing past his opponent in three games. Success also came in the third and fourth flights, with a pair of first-years Noah George and Owen Buroker, claiming their matches in three games. The fourth and final win came in the ninth flight, with first-year Derek Du needing four games to overcome his tricky opponent. However, it wasn't meant to be for the Devils, as the fifth, sixth and eighth flights went the way of the Saints, as the Red Devils now move into the plate draw for the Summers Cup.
