#27 Devils End Season with Dramatic Win Over 25th-Ranked Continentals

PHILADELPHIA – The Dickinson men's squash team ended their season in dramatic fashion on Sunday afternoon, with a 5-4 victory over Hamilton College in the Plate Final of the Summers Cup. The result puts the Red Devils 25th in the nation.

Inside the Match
The Red and White fell behind early on in the tie with two losses in the first wave of matches. The first point for the Devils came in the fourth flight, with first-year Noah George overcoming a slow start, to win his match in four games. That win really motivated the side, as two wins followed in the first and fifth flights. Junior Joe Smythe took care of business as usual to win the top flight in three games. First-year Will Krizek battled it out for 55 minutes and five games, to come back from 2-1 down, to claim the fifth flight and the third team win. Senior Omar Ali was next, who came out firing in his last match for the Devils, shooting out to a easy two game lead, before needing to weather the storm and claiming the third game 16-14. The Red Devils dropped the third, seventh, eighth and ninth flights to bring the match to a stalemate at four matches all. It all came down to graduate student Sam Knipp to win the match for the Red Devils in the sixth flight. Knipp won the first game 11-3 but then dropped the next two. Facing a 2-1 deficit and being down 7-3 and multiple match points in the fourth game, he clawed his way back into the game to send it to a fifth. After over an hour on court, Knipp was able to claim the fifth game 11-9, winning the match for the Red Devils and ending the season on a positive note.
