Summer Check-In
Where are you working/interning this summer? Company and Location.
I am working as a Residential Assistant for Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth - Carlisle, located on Dickinson’s campus.
Please describe your day-to-day responsibilities in this position.
As an RA, I supervise residential life for a class of middle and high school students and coordinate daily activities like scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, sports, game nights, and more for them to enjoy outside of their rigorous class schedule.
What made this experience appealing to you?
I have enjoyed working with students for many years as a substitute teacher and summer camp counselor, and I was excited to do so while sharing my love of Dickinson and Carlisle with these students who have traveled from across the country and the globe to attend this program.
How has your athletics career prepared you for this role?
My golf coach, Scott McQuaig, is fantastic at understanding what each player wants and needs from his coaching. His leadership has taught me the importance of meeting students where they are and understanding their needs, even when uncommunicated.
What are you looking forward to for this upcoming year for your sport?
This year I am looking forward to returning to golf after a semester abroad, serving as team captain, and welcoming four new first year students to the team!
