CARLISLE, Pa. - A pair of first-years had a memorable Saturday afternoon as
Joelle Ma netted her first collegiate goal, while
Pico Gray notched her first Red Devil shutout as the Red and White knocked the visiting Bridgewater College Eagles from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 2-0 non-conference win at Miller Memorial Field.
First Half
- The Devils were on the attack early with Lila Brown missing the target and Maddie St. Amand testing BC keeper Erinn Lockard within the first four minutes.
- A minute later Ava Prisco continued her outstanding start to the season with her fourth marker of the season slipping a shot beyond the reach of Lockard.
- Over the next ten minutes each goalie was tested twice with Gray shutting down Laura Narby and Lyric Birkley, while Lockard had the answer for Brown and Prisco.
- Ellie Nordwind had a pair of chances between minutes 29 and 32, but neither bothered the keeper.
- However, Dickinson would eventually make it 2-0 with 34:57 gone as a foul in the box by Kendall Garza resulted in a penalty kick. Ma would be called upon to try her luck from 12-yards out and she stashed her shot into the bottom right corner.
Second Half
- It took just over two minutes for Bridgewater to record the first shot of the period when Anna Belan let one fly towards the top left corner of the net. However, Gray was able to lunge out to make the stop.
- In the 52nd-minute, Brown had a crack at making it 3-0 off a corner, but Lockard beat it away.
- The Eagles then tried to get back into the match by recording four shots in a two minute span, fortunately, none of the them reached Gray.
- From then on the pitch was tilted towards the Dickinson attacking third with Brown, Ma and Prisco totaling four shots tasking Lockard into two more stops to set the final at 2-0.
