CARLISLE, Pa. - The Athletes of Color Coalition (ACC) is proud to present their interactive storyboard exhibit of heroes to celebrate Black History Month in February. The exhibit tells the stories of black student-athlete alumni of Dickinson College and encourages peer interaction with prompts to respond to with a sticky note. Visit the exhibit the entire month of February in the Kline Center in the upper level near the Squash courts.
Let's learn a little more about each student-athlete featured:
Jason Adams- Swimming
- Jason Adams is a 2014 graduate of the men's swim team. While at Dickinson, he set numerous school and conference records and was named the Outstanding Performer of the Meet at the Centennial Conference Championships in 2011, 2012, and 2014. In 2011, he set Centennial records in the 50 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 100 Butterfly, and 200 Medley Relay within a two-day span. The Jamaica native still owns school records in the 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 100 Butterfly, 400 Medley Relay, and 200 Freestyle Relay.
Bryce Allen- Men's Basketball
- Bryce Allen is 2020 graduate of the men's basketball program at Dickinson. As a guard/forward, he was named to the All-Centennial Second Team in 2018 after his 375-point season. He finished 19th all-time with 1,087 career points, ranking third in career steals with 157 and fifth in assists with 277, adding 294 rebounds. Allen ranks in the top-10 for three-point shooting percentage at 37.4, ranking fifth in three-pointers made and attempted going 149-for-378.
Leah Biwott- Track & Field
- Leah Biwott is a recent graduate of the women's track and field team in the class of 2025. She was a powerhouse on the track and in the field, making it do both indoor and outdoor conference championships every year. She currently ranks sixth in the school record book in both the 100m Hurdles (16.16) and the Heptathlon (3,678 pts).
Jonica Brown- Women's Basketball
- Jonica Brown graduated from Dickinson in 2019 and was apart of the women's basketball team. In her senior campaign with the Red and White, she tallied 11 points and 4 rebounds in an efficient 8 minutes in a non-conference game against Lancaster Bible College. Brown is still an active member of the Dickinson Women's Basketball program, participating in alumni events and serving as an alumni mentor.
Vivian Butali- Track & Field
- Vivian Butali is a 2013 graduate of the women's track and field team here at Dickinson. She ended her career as a Red Devil with a bang in the conference championships, taking third in the 100, long jump, and triple jump, and fifth in the 200. She still owns the school record in the triple jump with her 11.02m performance in April 2012.
Jay Carr- Women's Lacrosse
- Jay Carr is apart of the Dickinson class of 2024 and was a defender on the women's lacrosse team. She played in 40 games and started in 36 for the Red and White, and totaled 26 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers.
Gillian Chan- Volleyball
- Gillian Chan was apart of the volleyball team in 2014 and 2015. Over her two-year career, she recorded 245 kills and 302 total points, anchoring the offense through the middle. Defensively, she was a key blocker, posting 30 solo blocks and 54 assisted blocks for 84 total blocks, along with 24 digs.
Sonya Church- Softball and Field Hockey
- Sonya Church graduated from Dickinson in 1987 and was a member of both the softball and field hockey teams on campus. In 1985, she was a co-captain of the field hockey team. She was later inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1999 to celebrate her athletic achievements.
Frederick Cisse- Men's Soccer and Squash
- Frederick Cisse is a 2024 graduate of both the men's soccer and squash programs at Dickinson. He had a great first season as a Red Devil, netting eight goals for 17 points in his first year. He joined the squash program his senior year, with a notable victory on senior day winning 3-0 with repeated scores of 11-2.
Briona Davis- Women's Soccer
- Briona Davis is a Dickinson alumna class of 2019 and was a member of the women's soccer team. A dependable presence on the field, Davis appeared in 59 career games, recording 70 shots, seven goals, and nine assists. Her work rate and consistency helped drive the team's offensive pressure, while her ability to create opportunities made her a valuable two-way player. In recognition of her impact, Davis earned Honorable Mention All-Centennial Conference honors in her freshman season in 2015.
Chaz Smith- Men's Soccer
- Chaz Smith is a recent 2025 graduate of the men's soccer team. In his four years as a Red Devil, he started 34 games with 23 of them being in his underclassmen years.
Kiara Smith- Women's Golf
- Kiara Smith played for the Red and White for one season on the women's golf team.
Oosie Imoro- Squash and Men's Soccer
- Osuman, or Oosie, Imoro was a dual-sport athlete on the men's soccer and squash teams who graduated in 2022. On the pitch, he played in 18 games and added a late-game goal in the team's 5-1 win over Ursinus in 2018. He took the squash courts for his final year as a Red Devil in the 2021-2022 season.
Nate Ogbu- Men's Basketball
- Nate Ogbu was a standout men's basketball player in the 2023-2024 season as a graduate student coming in from Dartmouth. He started in all 25 games for the Red Devils, putting up 303 points and 211 rebounds in a single season. His performance earned him a spot on the All-Conference second team.
Aaron Pannell- Track & Field
- Aaron Pannell is a 2014 graduate of the men's track and field team at Dickinson. Throughout his time as a Red Devil, he was extremely successful and was a two-time All-American in the 100m. He also became the first athlete to win four straight 100-meter titles at the 2014 Centennial Conference outdoor championships and was the first conference athlete to win both the 100/200-meter double three times.
Michael Smith- Men's Lacrosse
- Michael Smith graduated from Dickinson in 2015 and was a member of the men's lacrosse team. In his time on campus, he played in 52 games and made two goals and an assist and a long-stick midfielder. After graduating in 2015, he built a career in technology and currently works as an Information Technology Product Manager at Lowe's in Charlotte, focusing on digital systems and product innovation.
Shaughn White- Football
- Shaughn White is a 1992 graduate who played on the Dickinson football team. Coming into his first year, the team made it to the ECAC Championship game. Over his four years on the team, he saw a cumulative record of 36-4-2. He garnered First-Team All-Centennial Conference honors in 1990 and 1991, then capped off his senior season with First-Team All-American honors. He is a member of the Dickinson Hall of Fame.
Elijah Wright- Men's Basketball
- Elijah Wright is a 2019 graduate who was a guard/forward on the men's basketball team. Throughout his time as a Red Devil, he scored 873 points with 300+ point seasons his sophomore and senior years. In 2017, he was named to the All-Centennial Second Team.
Nana Yaw Agyeman- Track & Field
- Nana Yaw Agyeman was a member of the Dickinson men's track and field team in the 2019-2020 season. In Centennial Conference competition, Agyeman was a two-time conference placewinner and earned recognition as an All-Conference performer. As a first-year athlete, he collected a bronze medal in the weight throw and followed with a strong silver-medal performance. During the 2020 indoor season, Agyeman placed fourth in the shot put and third in the weight throw.
