NEWVILLE, Pa. — The Dickinson men's cross country team hosted the annual Dickinson Long-Short Invitational Saturday at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa., with the Red Devils earning a combined team victory across the 4K and 8K races. The Red and White sent long time head coach Don Nichter out in style winning his final home meet as coach of Dickinson after more than 40 years in Carlisle. 

4K Race
Nathan Caldwell led the way for the Red Devils in the men's 4K, placing second overall with an impressive time of 12:19.1. Atticus Fair followed in seventh with a time of 12:28.8. Classmates Alex Hansen and Eddie Liszka finished 12th and 15th, respectively, crossing the line in 12:51.4 and 12:55.0. Will Kane rounded out Dickinson's top five with a 26th-place finish in 13:09.9. The Red Devils totaled 21 points to claim first place in the 4K team standings, finishing ahead of a field of 17 teams and 115 runners.

8K Race
Earlier in the morning, Luke Knestout continued his strong 2026 campaign with a fifth-place finish in the men's 8K, posting a time of 26:03.4. Mason Macek followed in 31st place with a time of 28:15.2. The trio of Landen Springer, Jacob Sokatch, and Griffin McConville finished 32nd, 36th, and 43rd, respectively, with times of 28:20.3, 28:44.1, and 29:25.3. The performances propelled Dickinson to a fifth-place finish in the 8K team standings with 48 points in a field of seven teams and 69 runners.

The Red Devils' combined team score was enough to secure the overall team victory, allowing Dickinson to reclaim the title after falling short in last year's competition.

The Red Devils will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Hornet Harrier 8K in Winchester, Va. The race is scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. start at Kernstown Battlefield.
