Aby Diop was named the new head coach of the Dickinson College women's basketball program in July of 2021, after spending two seasons as the head coach at Averett University.
 
During her three seasons at the helm of the Red and White, Diop has an overall record of 50-27 (.649) including 17-8 and 19-8 seasons the past two years (22-23 and 23-24 respectively). The Red Devils have appeared in two straight Centennial Conference Tournament’s, clinching the third seed in 2023-24. Under Diop’s leadership, she has seen 7 all-conference selections, including Clair Marion earning Centennial Conference Defensive player of the year in 2023-24. Marion was also selected to the all-regional team in 2023-24, the first time since 2019 a Red Devil has earnt this honor. In 2022-23, Diop and her staff were named Centennial Conference coaching staff of the year after their breakout season going 14-5 in Centennial Conference play.
 
In her time at Averett, she posted a combined record of 22-17 with an 11-5 mark in conference action, including tying the program record for wins in a season (2019-20). While with the Cougars she coached three all-conference selections and one D3hoops.com National Team of the Week honor. 
 
The Queens, New York native played collegiately at the University of Mary Washington, going 88-22 with the Eagles which included winning the Capital Athletic Conference title in 2012 and advancing to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. She was also named a captain of the team as a junior and senior. 
 
After graduating with a degree in Business Administration she served as a Ticket Operations Coordinator for the Washington Football Team of the National Football League, before moving on to Shenandoah University as an assistant coach. While with the Hornets she helped them win the 2019 Old Dominion Athletic Conference crown coming from the eighth-seed to advance to the NCAA Tournament. 
 
Diop earned her Masters degree in Organizational Leadership at Shenandoah in 2019 and currently resides in Carlisle.
