Aby Diop enters her fifth season as head coach of the Dickinson College women’s basketball program in 2025–26, continuing to shape the Red Devils into one of the Centennial Conference’s most competitive and culture-driven teams. Since taking the helm in July 2021, Diop has guided Dickinson to a 64–40 (.615) overall record, highlighted by three straight winning seasons and three consecutive Centennial Conference Tournament appearances, including back-to-back trips to the conference semifinals.
Under Diop’s leadership, the Red Devils have recorded season marks of 14–11 (2021–22), 17–8 (2022–23), 19–8 (2023–24), and 14–13 (2024–25). Her teams have built a reputation for defensive toughness, discipline, and togetherness—hallmarks of a program on the rise. That identity was exemplified in 2023–24, when Clair Marion earned Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year and All-Region honors, the program’s first such recognition since 2019. The previous year, Diop and her staff were named the Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year after a breakout 17-win campaign and a 14–5 record in league play.
Before arriving at Dickinson, Diop served as head coach at Averett University, where she led the Cougars to a program-record-tying 18-win season in 2019–20 and coached multiple All-Conference selections. She previously spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Shenandoah University, helping guide the Hornets to the 2019 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth.
A native of Queens, New York, Diop was a standout student-athlete at the University of Mary Washington, where she served as a two-year captain and helped lead the Eagles to an 88–22 record, the 2012 Capital Athletic Conference Championship, and an NCAA Elite Eight appearance. Diop and her teammates were inducted into the University of Mary Washington Athletics Hall of Fame in recognition of their historic 2011–12 season. Following her collegiate career, Diop worked for the NFL’s Washington Commanders as a Ticket Operations Coordinator before returning to basketball full-time. At Dickinson, she also plays a key role in developing and leading AD Camps, a program founded by Diop and her staff to promote skill development, leadership, and community engagement through the game of basketball.
Diop holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Mary Washington and a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Shenandoah University. She resides in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, with her family.
