Coach Still begins his fifth year with the Dickinson track & field program as an assistant coach, specifically working with the men’s and women’s pole vault.
Being around the event for over 25 years, Coach Still began his coaching career volunteer coaching at high schools in Pennsylvania. His passion and desire to help young vaulters develop and improve in this challenging event drive him to continue coaching and learning the Vault.
Coach Still had the privilege of Coaching at the Division 1 level for several years. His first coaching stop at the DI level came at Duke University and then The University of North Carolina/Chapel Hill.
While at the DI level, Coach Still’s athletes enjoyed unprecedented success, establishing 39 University records, three NCAA National Championship medal winners (2nd,3rd and 5th), 11 Atlantic Coast Conference Pole Vault Champions, five NCAA Regional Qualifiers, one IC4A Pole Vault Champion, one ECAC Champion and one Penn Relays Champion.
In addition to this, one of his former vaulters has earned US Olympic Team Status, as well as having International success, earning a medal at the IAFF World Indoor Championships.
After a brief hiatus to focus on his family and business, Coach Still is now enjoying developing and building Dickinson’s Vault program to continually compete on the national level.
Rikka Olson ’17 smashed the Dickinson record books, improving 21 inches in her first season. She began by improving eight inches during the indoor season, setting a school record of 3.45 (11-4”), and then increased this to a 3.71 (12-2”) to break the outdoor mark. She is the first female pole-vaulter to clear over 12’ at Dickinson and the first to qualify for the NCAA National Championships. Olson finished her career with school record of 3.66 (12'-0") indoors and still holds the outdoor mark at 3.71 (12'-2").
Coach Still attended Millersville University, competing in both Track & Field and Football.
He now resides in Carlisle Pa., with his family.
