College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to McDaniel
College on Wednesday night. |
The Green Terror led early and held off late runs by the Devils
to win the first two sets, 25-22, 25-21. They jumped out quickly in
the third, before the Devils tied the match, 8-8. The teams played
even the whole way until McDaniel closed out the match with a 25-22
decision.
Ely Gosheva (Sofia, Bulgaria/American U. of
Sofia) led the Devil hitters with 11 kills and a pair
of aces.
Chelsea Winkert (Cazenovia,
N.Y./Cazenovia) tallied 27 assists, four kills and 11
digs on the night while Amanda Hayes (Midlothian,
Va./Midlothian) recorded a match-high 17
digs.Lauren Yura (Morgantown,
W.V./Morgantown) added five kills and 11
digs. Kristen Lee (Los Angeles,
Calif./Brentwood)served up three aces, adding five kills
and seven digs as well.
Taylor Hergott led the Terror (14-9, 3-2) with a match-high 14
kills.
The Red Devils slip to 5-12 overall and 2-3 in the Centennial
Conference. They are home again on Saturday, hosting Bryn Mawr
College at 1:00 pm.
