(Carlisle, Pa.) - The Dickinson
College men's basketball team could taste its first win of the
season, but McDaniel College rallied to post a 53-44 victory in the
Centennial Conference opener for both teams on Wednesday. |
The Red Devils stormed out to an 8-0 lead before the Green
Terror answered with a 15-0 run of their own to take a 15-8 lead
with 10:34 remaining in the half.
Dickinson countered with another run to pull in front by seven
at the 4:32 mark, and held a 29-25 advantage at halftime. After the
break the Devils stretched the lead to 36-28 with just over 13
minutes left in regulation.
The Green Terror capitalized as the Devils shot just 19 percent
from the floor in the second half. McDaniel went on a 12-4 run to
tie the game at 40 with 8:44 on the clock, and held the Devils to
just a field-goal and two free throws from that point.
Junior Matt Dolan (Chalfont, Pa./St. Joe's
Prep) turned in another outstanding performance,
recording game-highs of 15 points and 16 rebounds while handing out
three assists.
First-year Douglas Jakiela (Wayne,
Pa./Conestoga) added five points and five rebounds
while classmate Chris Barsanti (Hummelstown,
Pa./Tilton School) and sophomore Mike
Aron (Sanbornton, N.H./Holderness) each chipped in
with five points as well.
Miguel Jones (Baltimore, Md./North County) led the Green Terror
with 10 points and three assists. Louis Sarris-Grau (Huntingdon
Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) and Micheal McClain (Takoma Park,
Md./Montgomery Blair) each scored nine on the night.
The Red Devils slip to 0-4 on the season and 0-1 in the
conference. They are home again on Saturday, hosting Johns Hopkins
at 4:00 pm. The women host the Blue Jays at 2:00 pm.
