(Carlisle, Pa.) - The Dickinson
College men's basketball team suffered its fifth loss to open the
season, falling to Johns Hopkins, 66-53 on Saturday afternoon. |
The Red Devils played even with the visiting Blue Jays for the
better part of the first half before Hopkins went on an 11-4 run to
stretch the lead to nine at the 1:52 mark. The Blue Jays held a
30-23 advantage at the break.
The Blue Jays stretched the lead to 12 early in the second half.
The Devils tried to make run, pulling within nine before a 9-0 run
put Hopkins in control of the game at the midway point.
Junior Chris Harrington (Cheverly, Md./Georgetown
Prep) led all scorers with 16 points, hitting 5-of-6
free throws. ClassmateMatt Dolan (Chalfont, Pa./St. Joe's
Prep) and first-year Doug Jakiela
(Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) each added 10 points and six
rebounds while Dolan also blocked two shots.
First-year Obi Ollawa (Los Angeles, Calif./View
Park Prep) also tallied 10 points on the night and
added a pair of steals.
Tim McCarty (Warrington, Pa./Germantown Academy) led the Blue
Jays with 12 points and six rebounds.
The Red Devils (0-5, 0-2) travel to Muhlenberg on Wednesday
night to face the Mules at 7:00 pm.
