Boxscore

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's soccer team, ranked 11th in the NSCAA National Poll, advanced to the final of the Centennial Conference Championship with a 2-1 win over Ursinus on Saturday. The top-seeded Red Devils will face #2-seed Johns Hopkins in the final for the third straight season. The Blue Jays, ranked 14th-nationally, advanced on penalty kicks after playing to a 2-2 draw with Haverford.

Sophomore Hannah Richardson (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) put the Devils on the board in the 36th minute, scoring off a great cross from classmate Heather Jaran (Budd Lake, N.J./Mt. Olive). The Bears answered in the 73rd minute as Sarah Cogswell finished an assist from Monica Oliverto to pull the Bears even at 1-1.

The Red Devils kept the pressure on, eventually finding the net again in the 78th minute. Sophomore Marissa Kunkle (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) fired a blast into the goal after Kara DiJoseph made a spectacular save on a shot by Kim Callaghan (Armonk, N.Y./St. Luke's, Conn.).

DiJoseph finished with eight saves as Dickinson held a 25-7 advantage in shots and a 7-1 edge in corners. Sophomore goalkeeper Annie Weichert (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) turned in a strong performance as well, stopping six shots for the Devils.

Senior Ashley Kunkle (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) played well in the midfield while first-year Rosalin Savoie (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) gave the Devils a solid presence on the front line.

The Red Devils added to the school record with their 12th consecutive win as they improved to 15-2-1 on the season.

In the other semifinal, Johns Hopkins struck twice in the first half but watched Haverford answer with a pair of second-half goals to force overtime. Erin Stafford scored directly off a corner, 20 minutes into the contest, placing the ball in the back corner of the goal.

The Blue Jays stretched the lead to 2-0 as Sara Tankard fed Erica Suter with a pass across the mouth of the goal that Suter put away in the 37th minute.

Anna Rayne put Haverford on the board just 4:03 into the second half, scoring off an assist from Meg Boyer. Rayne later tallied the assist as Mariah Baker scored to tie the game almost immediately after stepping onto the field in the 69th minute.

The Blue Jays (15-3-1) held a 30-7 advantage in shots and a 10-2 edge in corner kicks. Kristen Redsun made five saves for Hopkins while Kayleigh Herrick-Reynolds turned in an amazing performance, stopping 12 shots for Haverford (12-5-1).

The Red Devils will face the Blue Jays at Dickinson Park on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
