Red Devils Stop Second Place Mules 69-60

(Carlisle, Pa.) - The Dickinson College men's basketball team turned in another strong performance, knocking off second place Muhlenberg, 69-60, on Thursday night.

The Red Devils used a balanced attack to avenge a 73-70 road loss in Allentown back in December. The win was also the Devils' third in the last five games.

Sophomore guard Chris Heine (Spring Lake, N.J./St. Rose) was again deadly from long range, hitting 5-of-7 three-pointers on the night for a game-high 17 points.

The Mules took control early, pulling in front 12-3 and stretching the lead to 13 points midway through the first half. They held a 26-21 advantage at intermission.

After the break, the Red Devils held Muhlenberg scoreless for the opening five minutes of the half. The Devils put together a 14-3 run over the first 7:35 to pull in front 36-29 at the 12:25 mark.

Dickinson stretched the lead to nine before the Mules began to rally with a run of their own. They pulled even and later regained the lead (51-49) on a Matt O'Hara (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) three-pointer with 4:44 to play in regulation.

Chris Barsanti (Hummelstown, Pa./Tilton School) hit a pair of free throws to put Dickinson in front for good with 3:31 on the clock. Muhlenberg continued to come after the Devils, but solid shooting down the stretch secured the win.

Chris Harrington (Cheverly, Md./Georgetown Prep) went 6-for-6 from the free throw line, all in the final 1:19. He was one of four Red Devils to reach double-figures with 14 points.

Heine added five rebounds and a pair of steals on the night. Matt Dolan (Chalfont, Pa./St. Joe's Prep) was just shy of a double-double, scoring 15 points and controlling nine rebounds. He dished out four assists and went 8-for-9 from the charity stripe.

Barsanti sank all eight of his free throw attempts, finishing with 11 points.

Evan Tozer (Norwood, Pa./Interboro) matched a game-high with 17 points to lead Muhlenberg (12-10, 10-5).

The Red Devils (3-17, 3-12) are home again on Saturday, hosting Swarthmore College at 4:00 pm.
