| (Carlisle, Pa.) - The Dickinson
College baseball team dropped a pair of Centennial Conference games
to visiting Franklin & Marshall on Saturday afternoon at
MacPhail Field, 6-4, 17-4. |
The Diplomats capitalized on some early errors to post a 6-4
decision in the opener. F&M scored three unearned runs in the
second inning to take a 3-0 lead.
Tyler Rosa' (Carmel by the Sea, Calif./Stevenson
School) put the Devils on the board in the bottom of
the third, scoring off the bat of Evan Farha (Potomac,
Md./Churchill).
The Diplomats pushed across two in the sixth and added another
in the seventh to stretch the margin to 6-1.
Dickinson looked to rally in the bottom of the seventh, scoring
three runs. That would be as close as they could get, falling
6-4.
Ben Sciambi (Port Monmouth,
N.J./Ridge) hit a solo homerun to lead-off the
seventh. Andrew Sterling (Houston,
Texas/Episcopal) double to score a run and stole a
base before the Diplomats recorded the final out.
Mike Schuster (Malvern, Pa./Great
Valley) doubled and scored to put Dickinson on the
board in the first inning of game two.
The Diplomats answered in the third with three runs, including a
two-run homer from Blue Wells. They would open things up with a
six-run fourth to make the score, 9-1.
Sciambi was a bright spot in the nightcap, going 3-for-3 with a
pair of walks. Schuster finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run
scored while Bart Marchant (Lakeville,
Conn./Hotchkiss) went 2-for-2 with a run
scored. Evan Hennessy (Langhorne,
Pa./Neshaminy)added two hits, including a triple.
The Red Devils slip to 4-12 overall and 1-2 in the Centennial
Conference. They travel to McDaniel College for a make-up game on
Sunday at 2:00 pm.
