Hot Bats Lead Dutchmen Past Red Devils

(Annville, Pa.)- The Dickinson College baseball team dropped a 12-1 decision at Lebanon Valley on Tuesday afternoon. The game was originally scheduled for nine innings but was called for darkness at the end of the seventh.

 

The Dutchmen struck early, scoring five runs in the first and three in the second.

 

Sophomore Matt Vidal (Bronx, N.Y./All Hallows) was hit by a pitch and later scored on a single by Mike Schuster (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) in the top of the fifth to put the Devils on the board.

 

The Dutchmen pushed across four in the seventh for the final of 12-1 as they improved to 5-3 overall.

 

Schuster led the Red Devils at the plate, going 3-for-4 on the day with an RBI. Evan Farha (Potomac, Md./Churchill) added a pair of hits, going 2-for-4.

 

Sophomore Evan Fitzpatrick (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) turned in three strong innings of relief, recording six strikeouts in three innings. First-year Andrew Mauro (Washington, D.C./Mercersburg)added three strikeouts, allowing no hits and no runs in two innings of work.

 

Dickinson slips to 2-1 overall. The Red Devils held west to Arizona this weekend. They will face Brockport State (NY) in a double-header on Saturday.
