(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's soccer team used an overall team effort in its 5-0 win over visiting Susquehanna on Tuesday evening. In the end, 10 different Red Devils would record a goal or an assist in the game.
Sophomore Samantha Friday (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) put the Devils on the board, scoring off assists from Allie Young (New Canaan, Conn./St. Luke's) and Cate Maugle (Glenmoore, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) in the 14th minute.
The Devils pulled in front 2-0 in the 28th minute as sophomore Olivia Licata (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) finished an assist from junior Ashley Fields (Far Hills, N.J./Ridge).
First-year Julia Thayer (Washington, D.C./Maret School) wasted little time after the break to put Dickinson up ,3-0, finding the net just 27 seconds into the second half off another assist from Savoie. Classmate Cate Maugle (Glenmoore, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) tallied her first collegiate goal, adding that to her team-high four assists on the season, scoring in the 68th minute.
Dickinson would close out the scoring in the 78 minute. Sophomore Chelsea Johnson (Rose Valley, Pa./Strath Haven) put the final touches on assists from Jess Swain (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington) and Kerri Bergin (Allendale, N.J./Northern Highlands).
The Red Devils turned in another solid defensive effort, recording their eighth shutout of the season. Junior Annie Weichert (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) made a pair of saves in 73 minutes of action. First-years Liz Cassin (Summit, N.J./Summit) and Megan Stekla (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) came on in the second half to secure the shutout.
The Red Devils held a significant edge in shots, 23-3, and held a 6-2 advantage in corners on the day. Rachel Norbutz finished with nine saves in goal for Susquehanna (6-5-1).
The Red Devils (8-3-1) are home again on Friday, hosting Washington College at 4:00 pm.
