Gettysburg, Pa. – Senior Virginia Hogan and first-year Cydney Bracken combined for 28 kills to lead Gettysburg College to a 3-0 win over Dickinson College in Centennial Conference volleyball action Thursday night inside Bream Gym.
Gettysburg (15-7, 5-0 CC) maintained its perfect league record by winning with scores of 25-22, 25-15, and 25-23. Dickinson (3-14, 1-4 CC) fought to the bitter end in the first and third sets, erasing a 9-0 deficit in the opener to tie the contest at 21-21.
The Red Devils took their only lead of the match in the third set, jumping out to a 4-1 advantage. Gettysburg came back to take a 7-6 lead, and following a point by the visitors which tied the set, the hosts ran off five consecutive points to take control and eventually secure the match.
Emily Kisak (Columbia, Md./Howard) and Liz Norris (Southbury, Conn./Hotchkiss School) led Dickinson with six kills apiece while Kisak added a team-high 11 digs.
Avery Zuvic (Cold Spring, N.Y./Haldane) and Kaylee Britain (Wayzata, Minn./Blake) each added four kills. Britain recorded three blocks on the night as well. Grace Morgan (York, Pa./York Suburban) dished out 19 assists.
The Red Devils return home to face Washington College tomorrow night at 7:00 pm.
