(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's soccer team struck with just 3:25 remaining in the game to post a 1-0 victory over visiting Ursinus on Saturday.
Junior Marissa Kunkle (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) tallied the game-winner, heading in a perfectly placed corner from classmate Heather Jaran (Budd Lake, N.J./Mt. Olive).
The match was back-and-forth throughout the contest with both teams creating some dangerous chances in the attacking third of the field. Junior goaltender Annie Weichert (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) turned in a great performance in the nets, making five saves on the afternoon, including a strong play in the final minutes.
Natasha Tonia made four saves on the day as the Devils held a 12-8 edge in shots and 7-1 advantage in corners. Tonia came up with a huge save in the 56th minute to keep the score even, 0-0.
Ursinus drops to 6-8-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils improve to 10-4-1 on the year and 6-3 in conference play. Dickinson travels to Franklin & Marshall next Saturday for the regular season finale. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
