(Baltimore, Md.) – The Dickinson College men's soccer team advanced the Centennial Conference Championship, posting its fifth consecutive shutout on Friday night. The #2-seed Red Devils scored once in each half to defeat #3-seed Muhlenberg, 2-0, at Johns Hopkins University's Homewood Field.

The Red Devils recorded their eighth shutout of the season while Junior Cody Hickok (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) tied a pair of school records with his sixth solo shutout of the season and the 16th of his career.

Sophomore Derek Kachadurian (Weston, Mass./Weston) put the Devils on the board early, scoring just 11 minutes into the contest.

Each team had quality chances in the first half, but solid defending and strong goalkeeping keeping the score 1-0 at the break. Hickok made a pair of saves in the first half, turning away a great strike by Josh Luginbuhl in the 28th minute. He stopped one shot in the second to preserve the shutout.

The Devils had a great opportunity early in the second half, drawing a free kick just outside the penalty area, but the shot sailed just high of the cross bar.

The Devils continued to keep the pressure up in the second half with sophomore Javier Mena (San Salvador, El Salvador/The American School) finding himself with a great look at the net, striking with an insurance goal from the top of the penalty area with 27 minutes remaining in the game.

The Devils controlled play for much of the second half, holding an 18-4 edge in shots while forcing six corners after intermission. The Devils held a 9-2 advantage in corners for the game, outshooting Muhlenberg, 28-10 on the night.

In the other semifinal, Haverford (11-6-1) raised its season-ending winning streak to eight games as the #5-seed upset host Johns Hopkins, 2-1. The Red Devils (10-4-4) are 4-0-1 since a 3-2 setback to the 'Fords on October 9th. The teams will meet in Baltimore for the Centennial Conference title game on Sunday at 12:00 noon.
