(Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's basketball team suffered a disappointing loss to close out the season, falling on the road at Franklin & Marshall, 75-35, on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils held an early, 5-4 lead before the Diplomats went on a 12-0 run to take a 16-5 lead with 13:09 to play in the first half. F&M continued to build the lead, stretching the margin to 22-19 at the 9:06 mark.
Dickinson struggled offensively throughout the first half with the Diplomats extending their advantage to 40-19 at halftime. The second half started off much the same with the Devils scoring just four points in the opening seven minutes, trailing 51-23 with 13 minutes to play.
Dickinson had a short burst to cut the deficit to 51-29, but the Diplomats regrouped and remained in control throughout the contest. The Devils shot just 24 percent from the field, hitting just one three-pointer on the day.
Senior Carole Dempsey (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) led the Devils with 13 points and three rebounds. Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair Academy) added eight points, six rebounds and three assists. Ashley Kunkle (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) tallied four points, four steals and three rebounds while sophomore Dana Walsh (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) controlled five rebounds.
Three players reached double-figures for Franklin & Marshall (13-12, 11-9), led by Allison Bauer and Elizabeth Snyder with 15 points, and Alexa Barbush with 14. Bauer added five rebounds, seven assists and four steals.
The Red Devils wrap up the season 10-14 overall and 8-12 in the Centennial Conference.
