Devils Roll at Home, Tame Bears 84-56

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College men's basketball team has really started to enjoy the comforting confines of the Kline Center. They turned in another strong performance on Saturday, turning back Ursinus College, 84-56, in Centennial Conference action.

 

The Devils started strong, jumping out to a 16-2 lead in the opening six minutes of the game, and pulling in front 20-4, at the 12:25 mark.

 

The Bears used a 9-2 run to cut the deficit to single-digits, 22-16, with just over nine minutes to play in the first half. The Devils answered with a 15-1 tilt of their own to stretch the lead to 37-17 with 2:47 on the clock. The Devils went into the break with a 37-19 advantage.

 

The Devils knocked-down four three pointers in the opening four minutes, taking a 50-23 lead with 16:16 remaining. The Devils continued to roll, enjoying their largest advantage of the night at the 4:14 mark, extending the margin to 75-43.

 

Adam Honig (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) led all scorers with 18 points, knocking-down four three-pointers and handing out three assists. First-year Gerry Wixted (Moorestown, N.J./Lawrenceville School) was a rebound shy of a double-double, scoring 16 points and controlling nine rebounds.

 

Sophomore Tucker Landy (Durham, Conn./Xavier) reached double-figures with 10 points, three rebounds and three assists. Junior Chris Barsanti (Hummelstown, Pa./Tilton School) was all over the court in the first half. He finished with five steals, scoring nine points while dishing out three assists.

 

Sophomore Thomas McInerney (York, Pa./York Suburban) tallied seven points, eight rebounds and a pair of assists. Junior Doug Jakiela (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) added seven points as well, grabbing three rebounds.

 

The Red Devils were just one shy of the school record, hitting 13 three-pointers on the afternoon.

 

Pat Vasturia led Ursinus (7-12, 6-6) with 13 points while Jemaine Kamara controlled a game-high 13 rebounds.

 

The Red Devils improve to 10-9 overall and 7-5 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to McDaniel College for an 8:00 pm tip-off on Wednesday night.
