(Chestertown, Md.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team scored once in each half to post a 2-0, Centennial Conference win at Washington College on Saturday afternoon.
First-year Erin Sutphen (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) tallied both goals for the Red Devils. She struck in the 14th minute, finishing a rebound with an assist from Cate Maugle (Glenmoore, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) to put the Devils on the board.
Sutphen redirected a serve from senior Marissa Kunkle (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge), chipping a shot over the goaltender in the52nd minute to stretch the lead to 2-0.
The Red Devils held a significant advantage in shots, outshooting the hosts, 33-6. They forced 16 corners on the day, while allowing just one on the defensive end.
Mickey Fili made 11 saves in goal for Washington as they fall to 5-7 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
First-year Charlotte Armour (New Haven, Conn./ChoateRosemary Hall) earned the start in goal for the Devils, making a pair of saves. Sophomore Liz Cassin (Summit, N.J./Summit) came on for the final 33 minutes, stopping two shots as well.
The Red Devils improve to 10-4 overall and 4-3 in the conference. They return home to face Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
