(Chestertown, Md.) – The Dickinson women's volleyball team returned to the win column, posting a 3-1 win, on the road at Washington College on Saturday.
Washington opened the match with a 26-24 decision in the first set before the Devils rallied to sweep three straight, 25-21, 25-23, 25-21.
Three Red Devils reached double-figures for kills, led by junior Jessie Shaffner (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) with a match-high 13 on the day. She also served up four aces and had 14 digs. Seniors Sam Iazzetta (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and Avery Zuvic (Cold Spring, N.Y./Haldane) each tallied 11 kills.
Zuvic added four blocks while Emily Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) recorded nine kills and three blocks. First-year setter Jenn Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) dished out a match-high 44 assists and picked-up 11 digs.
Defensively, Grace Morgan (York, Pa./York Suburban) recorded 16 digs while Mairi Poisson (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire Academy) and Joanna DeCastro (Far Hills, N.J./West Morris Mendham) tallied 12 and 10, respectively.
Jenny Lee led Washington 13 kills and Jesse Sengstacke handed out 38 assists as the Shorewomen fell to 9-12 overall and 2-4 in the Centennial Conference.
The Red Devils improve to 5-12 overall and 4-3 in the conference. They return home to face Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
