(Westminster, Md.) – The Dickinson women's volleyball team claimed its second straight Centennial Conference victory, topping McDaniel College, 3-0, on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils swept the Green Terror, but did have their work cut out for them throughout the match. They opened with a 25-19 win in set one and went up, 2-0, with a 25-20 decision. McDaniel tried to force a fourth set, but Dickinson held on for the sweep, 28-26.
First-year Emily Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) had another outstanding performance, recording a match-high 15 kills to lead the attack. Senior Samantha Iazzetta (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) served up four aces, adding five kills on the night.
Senior Avery Zuvic (Cold Spring, N.Y./Haldane) turned in a strong performance as well, recording six kills, three aces and five blocks. Sophomore Jessie Shaffner (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) chipped in with five kills and six digs while Grace Morgan (York, Pa./York Suburban) tallied seven digs.
First-year setter Jenn Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) handed out 20 assists on the night.
Anne McShea matched Smith with 15 kills to lead McDaniel as they slip to 5-12 overall and 0-5 in the conference. The Red Devils improve to 3-11 overall and 2-3 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face Bryn Mawr College, next Tuesday night at 7:00 pm.
