(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team, ranked 20th in the latest NSCAA national coaches' poll, spoiled homecoming at Gettysburg with a 4-0, Centennial Conference win on Saturday night.
Senior Nicolas Tierno (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional) put the Red Devils on the board in the 12th minute, scoring off an assist from junior Kyle Schwab (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom).
The Devils held a 1-0 lead throughout the first half and into the break. Senior Shepherd Waldenberger (Madison, Va./Madison County) tacked on an insurance goal, finishing a pass from junior Javier Mena (San Salvador, El Salvador/The American School) , with exactly 25 minutes to play in the game.
The Devils tallied twice again as Mena converted a penalty kick in the 72nd minute and first-year Braeden Kelly (Brookeville, Md./Sandy Springs Friends) closed out the scoring with another tally in the 76th minute for the final of 4-0.
The Red Devils held a 16-9 advantage in shots while the Bullets held a slim 4-2 edge in corners on the night. Connor Darrell made six saves for Gettysburg as the Bullets fall to 3-5-1 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play.
Senior Cody Hickok (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) made a pair of saves before Christian Hall (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) came on for the final 12 minutes, making one stop.
The Red Devils improve to 8-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the conference. They are home against Misericordia University on Wednesday evening.
