(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team dominated play and controlled possession for almost the entire match on Saturday. However, it was Muhlenberg who was able to capitalize on a great serve from Colleen Touhey that Alyssa Meola headed into the net for a 1-0 win.
The Red Devils controlled play for virtually the entire match with Muhlenberg breaking through on attack, but not able to create any dangerous opportunities.
The Devils turned up the pressure in the second half and fired-off some quality chances. Junior Olivia Licata (Upper Saddle River, N.Y./Northern Highlands) ripped a shot off the crossbar and served some dangerous corners, but the Mule defense was able to hold their ground.
The Devils tallied 16 shots in the second half, holding Muhlenberg to just four for the match. The Mules countered and Touhey served a ball over the top the Meola redirected in the net for the game-winner at the 81st minute mark.
The Devils kept battling, trying to net the equalizer but could not find the finish. Francesca Cobuzzi made eight saves for Muhlenberg (4-6-1, 1-2-2) while senior Annie Weichert (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) made a pair of stops for Dickinson.
The Red Devils slip to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to McDaniel College on Wednesday for a 4:00 kick-off.
