(Reading, Pa.) – The Dickinson College volleyball team outlasted host Albright College for a 3-2 win on Monday night. First-year Emily Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) turned in a great performance, recording 21 kills on the night.
The Red Devils came out strong, taking the opening set, 25-12. The Lions answered with a 25-21 decision to even the match, and survived a marathon third set, 28-26, despite seven kills from Smith, to pull in front, 2-1. The Red Devils pulled even, claiming the fourth set, 25-20.
Emily Kisak (Columbia, Md./Howard) tallied four kills in the decisive fifth set, leading the Devils to 17-15 win to secure the match. The Red Devils had a balanced attack as Kisak and classmate Avery Zuvik (Cold Spring, N.Y./Haldane) each finished with six kills while senior Sam Iazzetta (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) tallied eight kills and 12 digs.
First-year setter Jenn Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) handed out 42 assists and added five digs. Kisak served up three aces and had four digs while Zuvic added five digs and a pair of aces.
Laura Silverman (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) chipped in with six kills and a pair of blocks and Grace Morgan (York, Pa./York Suburban) matched a team-high with 12 digs on the night.
The Red Devils pick up their first win of the season, improving to 1-4. They return home to host the Red Devil Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
