(Harrisonburg, Va.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team scored twice and held off a late rally at Eastern Mennonite to post a 2-1 win and improve to 3-0 on the season.
Senior Nicolas Tierno (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional) put the Devils on the board, breaking free up the middle, 10:11 in to the game. Junior Aiden Gaughran (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) scored on a header, redirecting a long cross from classmate Jamie Martin (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) in the 27th minute.
The hosts made things interesting, cutting the lead in half with a late goal. Adam Moyer scored with 9:46 remaining in regulation, intercepting the ball at the top of the penalty area.
EMU held a 13-11 advantage in shots as senior Cody Hickok (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) stopped five shots on the day. The Devils held the edge in corners, 7-2, while being flagged for off-sides on 11 occasions on Saturday.
Andrew Yoder made three saves in goal for the Royals as they slip to 1-2-1 overall. The Red Devils (3-0) travel to Washington & Lee for a 2:00 kick-off on Sunday afternoon.
