(Collegeville, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team took a while to get started but finished with a 3-0 win at Ursinus College on Saturday.
The Red Devils tallied a pair of goals in a span of just, one minute 57 seconds, to close out the first half with a 2-0 lead. Sophomore Erin Sutphen (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) scored off an assist from classmate Jenna Lamb (Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary) in the 38th minute.
Just seconds later the Devils struck again. Sophomore Nicole Fronsdahl (Groton, Mass./Groton) finished an assist from Sutphen with 5:16 remaining in the first half.
Shots were even in the opening 45 minutes as each team recorded six. The Bears held a slim edge in corners, 4-2.
As the rain started to fall to begin the second half, the Red Devils tacked on another goal, ten minutes in as senior Olivia Licata (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) found the net off an assist from junior Jess Swain (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) in the 56th minute.
The final tally had the teams even with six corners while Dickinson held an 11-8 advantage in shots. Kara DiJoseph made six saves for Ursinus as they fall to (6-6-1, 2-3-1).
Charlotte Armour (New Haven, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) made three saves to earn the shutout.
Dickinson improves to 6-6-2 overall and 2-3-2 in Centennial Conference play. The Red Devils host Franklin & Marshall next Saturday at 1:00 pm.
