Miller Has Big Day in Season Finale

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson football suffered a tough loss in the season finale, but had some strong individual performances on Saturday. Ursinus combined for 336 yards of offense en route to a 31-0 win at Biddle Field.

 

Senior captain Michael Miller (Hainesport, N.J./Bishop Eustace) did his part and more, leading the defense with a game and career-high 18 tackles. That ties him for third-best single game total in program history. He tallied 11 solo stops, including 2.5 tackles-for-loss. Miller forced and recovered a fumble and picked-off a pass on the goal line

 

Sophomore Teddy Airoldi (Bethlehem, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) recorded nine solo stops and a pair of assists for 11 on the day. Classmate Connor Thompson (Jenkintown, Pa./Father Judge) added seven tackles.

 

The Red Devils covered 159 yards on the ground. Cedric Madden (Norristown, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) covered 55 yards on nine carries while Shawn Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa./Malvern Prep) added 52 yards on 12 attempts. Jake Meluskey (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) came on for 33 yards on five carries on the Devils' final drive.

 

First-year James Ward (Hatfield, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) had a 32 yard kick-off return and covered 95 yards on four returns on Saturday.

 

The Devils held the Bears in check, trailing just 7-0 at the end of the first quarter and 14-0 at halftime.

 

The Red Devils received the kick-off to open the second half but Max DiNardo forced a fumble on the first play from scrimmage. Greg DiSanto picked up the ball and ran 15 yards into the end zone to stretch the lead to 21-0.

 

Taylor Paul broke free and scored on a 21-yard run at the midpoint of the third quarter. The stretched the margin to 28-0. Eric Boyer closed out the scoring with a 36 yard field-goal for the final of 31-0.

 

Kevin Monahan completed 18-of-22 passes for 215 yards. Jerry Rahill set an Ursinus program record with six catches for 96 yards. He broke the school record for career receptions with 187.

 

Matt Ruby led the defensive effort with seven tackles as the Bears finish 7-3 overall and 6-3 in the Centennial Conference.

 

The Red Devils finish 3-7 and 3-6 in the CC.
