(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team turned in another strong performance, opening up a big second half lead en route to a 74-52 win at Gettysburg College. The Red Devils improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial Conference.
The Red Devils jumped out a 10-2 lead in the opening five minutes. The Bullets would battle back to tie the game, 14-14, at the 11:55 mark. Gettysburg took a brief, 16-14 advantage, before the Red Devils went on an 18-1 run to pull in front, 32-17.
Dickinson took a 16-point lead before Gettysburg cut the lead to 11 at the break, 35-24.
Gettysburg was able to keep the Red Devils in check until the midpoint of the second half. Sango Amolo hit a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to seven, with 13:56 remaining in the game.
Adam Honig (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) made a steal and fed co-captain Tucker Landy (Durham, Conn./Xavier) for a dunk to give the Red Devils a 19 point lead. Landy converted a pair of free throws to stretch the margin to 21, with 8:12 on the clock.
Honig knocked-down back-to-back three-pointers and hit a pair of free throws to extend the lead to, 71-45, with just over five minutes to play. The Bullets closed out the game with a 7-1 run for a final of 74-52.
Junior Gerry Wixted (Moorestown, N.J./Camden Catholic) netted a game-high 22 points, adding six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Landy scored 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, adding a pair of assists and a steal.
Honig tallied 10 points, four rebounds and three steals. Sophomore Ted Hinnenkamp (York, Pa./York Suburban) dished out four assists, scoring five points to go with five rebounds, a steal and a blocked shot.
Cody Keiffer led Gettysburg (1-4, 0-2) with 11 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Amolo finished with 11 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the free throw line.
The Red Devils (4-1, 2-0) travel to McDaniel College on December 3rd for an 8:00 pm tip-off with the Green Terror.
