(Washington, D.C.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team opened a challenging stretch of road games with a solid, 86-74 win, at Catholic University on Tuesday night.
Junior Gerry Wixted (Moorestown, N.J./Camden Catholic) became the 23rd player in program history to score 1,000 career points. Wixted scored 14, hitting 6-of-6 free throws to reach the milestone, standing at 1,007 in less than three seasons.
Catholic struck first, but a Tucker Landy (Durham, Conn./Xavier) three-pointer put Dickinson on top, and they would not trail for the remainder of the game. The Cardinals kept the Red Devils in their sights, pulling within one on three occasions in the first half, but were unable to regain the lead.
The Red Devils held a, 36-31, advantage at the break. They stretched the lead to double-figures in the second half, but were never quite able to close out the Cardinals. The Devils did hold a double-digit lead for the majority of the second half, putting 50 points on the board in the final 20 minutes.
Wixted finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists on his historic night. Senior Adam Honig (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) drained five three-pointers to net a game-high 30 points on the night. He went 9-for-11 from the free throw line and dished out four assists as well.

Steve Limberiou led Catholic (4-4) with 25 points, hitting 8-of-11 free throws on the night. Louis Khouri knocked-down 9-of-11 free throws en route to 17 points.
