(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team improved to 4-0 in the Centennial Conference with a big, 79-59, win over visiting Swarthmore College on Saturday.
The Red Devils shot 55 percent from the field and a remarkable 90 percent from the free throw line, hitting 18-of-20 attempts on the day.
Senior guard Adam Honig (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) led the way with a game-high 18 points, adding three assists and three rebounds, and hitting 4-of-4 free throws.
Following a scoreless opening two minutes, Jay Kober finished a three-point play to put the Garnet on the board. The Devils answered, tying the game at, 5-5, and would lead for the remainder of the contest.
Sophomore Ted Hinnencamp (York, Pa./York Suburban) came off the bench to spark the Red Devils, triggering a 12-3 run that would give Dickinson a 17-8 lead with 10:23 remaining in the half.
The Red Devils continued to build a lead, stretching the margin to 20 at the 2:40 mark. Hinnencamp dished off a beautiful pass to junior Chris Cox (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West) who went vertical for a monster jam to close out the half.
After the break, the run continued for the Red Devils. They led by as many as 32 in the second half, shooting just under 60 percent. Dickinson was perfect from the line in the first half, converting all nine attempts. They went 9-for-11 in the second.
Junior Steve Collins (Rydal, Pa./La Salle College) added 13 points, three rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots in just 20 minutes of action. Senior Tom McInerney (York, Pa./York Suburban) reached double-figures with a great effort as well. He scored 11 points, adding three rebounds.
Cox tallied eight points, four rebounds and a blocked shot while Brandon Angradi (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) knocked-down a pair of three-pointers.
Chris Bourne led Swarthmore (3-5, 2-2) with 13 points and three rebounds while Sam Lebryk tallied nine points, going 6-for-6 from the foul line.
The Red Devils improve to 6-1 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play. They travel to Catholic University on December 17th and head to Alvernia on the 18th.
