(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson volleyball team rallied to a thrilling, 3-2 win, over visiting Penn State Altoona on Tuesday night.
The Devils claimed the opening set, but then found themselves trailing, 2-1, after the Lions escaped with a, 28-26, decision in the third set. They made a late run to win the second, 25-19. Dickinson pulled even with a dominant performance in the fourth, rolling to a 25-12 equalizer.
Sophomore Laura Silverman (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) led the way with six kills in the set while Lauren Ahern (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) added five.
A strong start carried Dickinson to a 15-8 win in the deciding set. Silverman finished with a match-high 15 kills, assisting on three blocks as well. Sophomore Emily Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) reached double-figures with 10 kills, adding eight digs.
Senior Grace Morgan (Williamsburg, Va./York Suburban) tallied 22 digs while classmate Emily Kisak (Columbia, Md./Howard) chipped in with eight kills and seven digs.
Ahern had a solid performance as well, recording nine kills and four digs on the night. Senior Joanna De Castro (Far Hills, N.J./West Morris Mendham) had an all-around night with six kills, four aces, eight digs and a solo block.
Sophomore setter Jenn Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) handed out 43 assists, adding four digs and four blocks.
Mariah McDowell led the Lions (3-7), with 14 kills and 10 digs. Leah Brutz dished out 31 assists and Denise Chen added 15 digs.
The Red Devils improve to 3-5 overall. The Red Devils travel to Haverford College on Saturday for a 1:00 pm start.
