(Haverford, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team scored with just 3:42 remaining in regulation to force overtime and an eventual, 1-1 tie, at Haverford College on Saturday. It was the Centennial Conference opener for both teams.
The teams played scoreless through the first half with Haverford holding a 9-6 advantage in shots. They added an 11-5 edge in the second half, scoring on a scramble in front of the Red Devil net. Connie Friedman scored on her own rebound in the 57th minute.
The Devils answered late as junior Kerri Bergin (Allendale, N.J./Northern Highlands) scored off an assist from classmate Cate Maugle (Glenmoore, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) as Maugle fed Bergin a well placed through ball on a restart.
Sophomore Charlotte Armour (New Haven, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) made seven saves for the Red Devils. Robin Chernow made eight saves for the 'Fords.
The Red Devils move to 4-1-1 on the season while Haverford stands at 0-2-3 on the year. The Red Devils travel to Alvernia University on Wednesday with opening kick-off scheduled for 4:00 pm.
