(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson volleyball team turned in another solid performance on its home court, sweeping visiting Albright College, 3-0, on Monday night. Sophomore Laura Silverman (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) recorded a match-high 17 kills to lead the Red Devil attack.
The Red Devils looked strong from the start, taking the first set, 25-17, behind seven kills from Silverman, while classmate Emily Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) added four.
Dickinson claimed the second set by an identical score of 25-17. First-year Lauren Ahern (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) combined with Silverman for seven kills in the set, while senior Emily Kisak (Columbia, Md./Howard) added a trio as well.
The Lions still had some fight left, taking an early lead in the third set. The Devils battled back as Smith served the Devils to a, 13-13, tie. Smith added four kills while Silverman closed out the match with seven more. Kisak tallied four kills as well, as Dickinson improved to 4-6 on the season, and 2-0 at home.
Silverman finished with 17 kills while Smith reached double-figures with 10, adding an ace and 13 digs. Ahern chipped in with six kills on the night, adding three block assists.
Seniors Joanna De Castro (Far Hills, N.J./West Morris Mendham) and Grace Morgan (Williamsburg, Va./York Suburban) tallied 10 and seven digs, respectively, and DeCastro served up a pair of aces as well.
Sophomore setter Jenn Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) handed out 39 assists on the night. She went over the 800-assist mark for her career, recording 582 in her rookie season.
The Red Devils (4-6, 0-1 CC) travel to Swarthmore College on Saturday for a 1:00 pm, Centennial Conference match with the Garnet.
