(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's volleyball team rallied to win the fourth set, but fell in the end, 3-2, to visiting Muhlenberg College on Saturday.
The Devils started the match strong, taking the first set, 25-16, behind six kills from senior Joanna De Castro (Far Hills, N.J./West Morris Mendham). The Mules claimed the next two sets, to lead, 2-1. Dickinson rallied to fourth a deciding game with a 25-22 decision.
Muhlenberg would hold on in the final set, 15-12, as they improved to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in the Centennial Conference.
De Castro led the Red Devils with 18 kills while sophomore middle Laura Silverman (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) added 11 kills and four block assists.
Sophomore Emily Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) and first-year Lauren Ahern (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown) each recorded nine kills with Ahern assisting on four blocks as well.
Senior Grace Morgan (Williamsburg, Va./York Suburban) tallied nine digs while sophomore setter Jenn Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) dished out 47 assists on the night, going over 900 for her career.
The Red Devils slip to 5-8 overall and 0-3 in the conference. The Red Devils traveled to McDaniel College on Wednesday for a 7:00 pm start.
