Box Score

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team overcame a slow start and a determined Washington College team to post a, 78-66, win at the Kline Center on Wednesday night.

The game was back and forth in the opening minutes with the teams tying for the fifth time in the opening four minutes. The Shoremen went on a run to pull in front, 30-20, with just under five minutes remaining in the half.

Dickinson cut the lead to six before Washington took a 38-30 advantage into halftime. The Red Devils opened the second half with a spark, quickly taking a 39-38 lead, on a Gerry Wixted (Moorestown, N.J./Camden Catholic) three-point play.

Washington continued to battle as the teams continued to trade the lead, knotting the game at 47, with 11:39 remaining. Sophomore Brandon Angradi (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) knocked-down a three-pointer that would put Dickinson in front for good, with 8:22 on the clock.

The Shoremen did pull even one more time before the Devils built their biggest lead of the night in the final minutes. Dickinson converted on their final 12 trips to the free throw line in the final five minutes.

The Red Devils hit just a trio of three-pointers, but each came at a critical time in the game. Chris Cox (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West) put the Devils on top with a triple from the corner and senior Adam Honig (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) buried one from the top of the key to give Dickinson a six-point lead with 1:37 left in the game.

Wixted led the way with a double-double night, recording game-highs of 22 points and 12 rebounds. He hit 8-of-12 shots from the field and was perfect from the line, going 6-for-6. Honig converted 8-of-10 free throws for 13 points. He added six rebounds and dished out five assists on the night as well.

Sophomore Ted Hinnenkamp (York, Pa./York Suburban) came off the bench to give the Devils quality minutes, scoring 11 points and controlling seven rebounds. Angradi finished with nine points, hitting all six of his free throw attempts on the night.

Pat Morgan sank four three-pointers to lead Washington (3-9, 2-3) with 20 points. John Weston added 13 while Kevin Cunningham reached double-figures with 11.

The Red Devils remain unbeaten in Centennial Conference play, improving to 5-0 on the season, and improve to 10-2 overall. They travel to Ursinus College on Saturday for a 1:00 pm tip-off.
