2-0 Win Keeps Devils Unbeaten in CC

Box Score

(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The #20-ranked Dickinson men's soccer team scored once in each half to remain unbeaten in the Centennial Conference at 6-0 with a 2-0 win at Gettysburg on Saturday night.

The Red Devils had the better of the opportunities at the midpoint of the first half. Junior Alfred Hylton-Dei (Geneva, Switzerland/Mercersburg Academy, Pa.) almost put the Devils on the board with a breakaway, but Bullet goalkeeper Max Karen made a strong play to make the save.

The Devils did strike in the 21st minute as Hylton-Dei found senior captain Nate Latshaw (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) in front of the goal to put Dickinson on the board.

The Devils had another strong chance just minutes later but the Gettysburg defense was able to clear the ball.

The Bullets held the advantage forcing corners in the first half, drawing four in the early going. They tacked on another in the final minute but the Red Devils held strong to keep the score, 1-0, at the break.

The teams traded strong chances in the early minutes of the second half. The Devils had a great cross to the far post but the shot went just wide. Gettysburg countered with a nice attacking run, but senior goaltender Reed Milbrath (Dickerson, Md./Sandy Spring Friends) came off the line to make the save.

The Devils had another great chance at the 27 minute mark as a header off a corner went just wide of the net. Almost immediately the Bullets drew a free kick at the top of the circle. The shot went right into a solid wall of Devils and a rebounded shot went wide.

The Devils did strike again as Gettysburg attempted to clear a cross and the header went right to the foot of first-year Ryan Brown (Schnecksville, Pa./Moravian Academy), who drove the ball into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead in the 72nd minute.

Dickinson carried the momentum from the goal for the remainder of the match to secure the shutout. Both goaltenders finished with two saves on the night. The Devils held an 8-6 shot advantage and closed the gap on corners to 6-4 for the game.

The Red Devils improve to 11-2-1 and remain unbeaten in the Centennial Conference at 6-0. They return home to face Swarthmore College next Saturday on Miller Memorial Field at 1:00 pm.
