(Baltimore, Md.) – The Dickinson volleyball team suffered a tough setback in Baltimore, falling at Johns Hopkins, 3-0, on Wednesday night. The Blue Jays came out strong to open with a 25-16 decision in set one, and claimed 25-7, 25-14 wins to close out the match.
Ally Hirsh and Mereze Visagle each recorded nine kills to lead the Hopkins attack. Kristi Rhead and Carolyn Zin combined for 29 assists while Erica Johnston had nine service aces on the night.
Junior Emily Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) led the Red Devils with five kills while classmate Jenn Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) dished out 13 assists and sophomore Arielle Misrok (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) tallied 14 digs.
The Blue Jays improve to 14-10 on the season and 5-2 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils slip to 5-13 and 1-7. Dickinson returns home for a tri-match on Saturday, facing Ursinus College and Lebanon Valley.
