VIDEO | RDSN: MBK - No. 12 Dickinson v. McDaniel, S. Collins

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The #12-ranked Dickinson men's basketball team held visiting McDaniel to just 17 points in the second half en route to a 53-38 win on Tuesday night at the Kline Center.

The Red Devils blocked nine shots on the night as 38 points matches the lowest point total allowed under six-year head coach Alan Seretti. The Devils held Gettysburg to 38 in a 44-38 win during the 2011-12 season.

The game marks somewhat of an anniversary as Seretti's first-ever Centennial Conference game was against the Green Terror in 2009. And in the starting line-up was assistant coach Matt Dolan '11, who returned to his alma mater this season. Dolan led the Red Devils to Seretti's first conference championship appearance in 2011, and the program has been on the rise ever since.

The Red Devils were relentless in the second half, blocking seven shot attempts in the second half as the Green Terror converted just four field-goals. Senior Gerry Wixted (Moorestown, N.J./Camden Catholic) led the charge, turning back four shots to go with 10 points and five rebounds.

Dickinson had a strong start, taking a 9-4 lead on Wixted three-pointer. McDaniel rallied and pulled even, 13-13, at the 9:22 mark.

The Green Terror stayed even with the Devils until a 9-2 run closed out the half. Ted Hinnenkamp (York, Pa./York Suburban) hit a pair of free throws and dished a beautiful assist to Steve Collins (Rydal, Pa./La Salle) for a 24-19 advantage. Collins buried a three-pointer at the buzzer to give Dickinson a 27-21 lead at halftime.

The Red Devils came out strong after the break, stretching the margin to 13 in the opening four minutes of the second half. Collins hit a pair of free throws and knocked-down another three-pointer to put the Devils up, 36-23.

Dickinson continued to build on the lead, going up 45-27 on a pair of free throws from first-year Justus Melton (Charlotte, N.C./Covenant Day). Classmate Jon Stenger (Midlothian, Va./James River) hit a pair from the stripe to give the Devils their largest lead of the night, 52-33, with 2:29 remaining in the game.

Collins led the way with a game-high 17 points on 4-of-6 shooting. He went 6-for-6 from the line and hit a trio of three-pointers. Hinnenkamp tallied six points, five rebounds and two steals. Chris Cox (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West) chipped in with six points, four rebounds and three assists.

Cameron Royster led McDaniel (4-2, 1-1 CC) with 10 points. The Green Terror went 8-for-8 from the line in the second half, hitting 12-of-16 for the game.

The Red Devils improve to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference. They travel to Swarthmore College on Saturday for a 4:00 pm with the Garnet.
