(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson baseball team dropped a non-conference match-up with visiting Penn State Harrisburg on Monday afternoon at MacPhail Field, falling 6-3 to the Lions.
The Red Devils capitalized on a pair of Penn State errors in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. First-year Jake Band (Gaithersburg, Md./St. John's College) reached on a two-base error and moved to third on another. He came in to score off the bat of Luke Besse (Marston Mills, Mass./Barnstable).
The Lions strung together three base-hits and used a Red Devil miscue to score twice and take a 2-1 advantage in the top of the third.

First-year Tim Anderson (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) doubled and sophomore Jake Otis (Glen Head, N.Y./North Shore) drew a walk in the bottom half of the inning. That set up back-to-back RBI singles from Henry Milano (Armonk, N.Y./Salisbury School) and Rick Hopkins (Egg Harbor Twp./Holy Spirit), cutting the deficit to 5-3.
The Lions tacked on an insurance run in the top of the eighth. Eric Hoover led-off with a single and eventually came in to score on a sacrifice fly by Travis Crammer.
First-year Julian Hayes (Seattle, Wash./Seattle Academy) came on in the sixth to play second base. He tallied back-to-back base-hits in the sixth and eighth innings, but was stranded both times.
The Red Devils had base-runners in each inning of the game, but were unable to produce the tying runs in the final frames.
Five Red Devils recorded a pair of hits on the day. Milano and Alex Rhoads (Princeton, N.J./Solebury School) each went 2-for-4 while Hopkins and junior Mike DeVivo (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) were 2-for-5.
Sophomore Christian Salem (Jenkintown, Pa./Chestnut Hill) suffered the loss on the hill. He had a solid outing, scattering four hits over four innings while allowing just one earned run. Bryan Wacker (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry Collegiate) and Jimmy Robertson (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) came to throw well in relief.
The Red Devils slip to 19-11 overall. They return to Centennial Conference action on Tuesday, traveling to Muhlenberg College for a 3:30 pm start.
