(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's volleyball team battled with visiting Haverford but suffered a 3-1 setback in the Centennial Conference opener on Saturday.

The 'Fords escaped a tight first set, 25-23, and took a 2-0 advantage with a 25-17 decision in the second. The Red Devils answered to extend the match, claiming the third set, 25-22.

Haverford got off to a strong start in the fourth set and the Devils were unable to recover, falling 25-9.

First-year Lauren Beecher (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) led the Red Devil attack with 11 kills while Norma Jean Park (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) added nine.

Sophomore libero Arielle Misrok (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) tallied 14 digs to go with a pair of kills and an ace. Junior Jenn Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) dished out 27 assists, adding eight digs. Lauren Ahern (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) chipped in with five kills and three solo blocks on the afternoon.

The Red Devils slip to 3-7 overall and 0-1 in the conference. They are home again next Saturday, hosting Swarthmore College at 1:00 pm.
