(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's volleyball team suffered a tough 3-0 setback to visiting Swarthmore College on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0.
The Garnet used strong starts in all three sets and held off a pair of late charges by the Red Devils in the first and third. Swarthmore claimed the opening set, 25-19, and came out strong in the second to post a 25-11 decision.
The Red Devils tried to rally in the third, but Swarthmore held off the late run to capture the match, 25-18.
Junior setter Jenn Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) dished out a match-high 21 assists on the afternoon while first-year Lauren Beecher (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) led the attack with six kills.
First-years Norma Jean Park (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) and Gillian Chan (Brooklyn, N.Y./Poly Prep Country Day) each tallied five kills.
Sophomore libero Arielle Misrok (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) tallied 13 digs while junior Emily Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) added eight digs and four kills.
Chastity Hopkins and Sarah Wallace led Swarthmore with eight kills each as the Garnet improved to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial Conference.
The Red Devils slip to 3-8 overall and 0-2 in the CC. Dickinson is home again on Wednesday night, hosting Elizabethtown at 7:00 pm.
