(Selinsgrove, Pa.) – The Dickinson volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the Hampton Inn/Crusader Classic on Friday night. The Red Devils suffered 3-0 setbacks to Saint Vincent College and host Susquehanna in the nightcap.
In the second match, Susquehanna jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first set, but the Red Devils rallied to cut the deficit to 9-8. The teams played even throughout the set, trading scores to a tie at 20. The Crusaders scored back-to-back points to slip in front, 22-20.
Susquehanna came out of a timeout and closed out the set with three straight points. The second set saw a similar start as the Crusaders opened with a 5-1 run. They stretched the advantage to 9-3 before another Dickinson rally made the score, 12-10.
Susquehanna responded with an 8-0 run for a 20-10 lead, en route to a 25-13 decision. The Devils regrouped and started strong in the third set. They played even until SU pulled in front, 14-10. They carried the momentum to stretch the margin to 17-11. The Devils had some bright moments in the final set but dropped the match, 25-15.
The Red Devils slip to 0-4 on the season. They face-off against Misericordia on Saturday morning and face Gettysburg in their final match of the tournament at 1:00 pm.
