(Chestertown, Md.) – The Dickinson volleyball team suffered another tough setback on Saturday, falling 3-1 at Washington College.
The hosts came out strong, claiming a 25-10 decision in the opening set. The Red Devils regrouped to even the match, surviving a 26-24 marathon in the second. Washington captured the next two sets, 25-16 and 25-19 to improve to 15-7 on the season and 3-3 in the Centennial Conference.
Senior Emily Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) led the Red Devils with a double-double afternoon, recording 10 kills and 10 digs. Erin Bongo (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) was right there with eight kills and nine digs while Norma Jean Park (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) added eight kills and assisted on three blocks.
Junior Arielle Misrok (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) had another strong defensive performance, recording a match-high 25 digs while handing out seven assists.
First-year setter Hannah Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) tallied 17 assists and a pair of aces while sophomore Kelly Quinn (Madison, N.J./Madison) dished out seven assists and added seven digs.
Washington served up 12 aces, led by Kristin Lee with three aces and a match-high 11 kills to go with 15 digs.
The Red Devils slip to 7-14 overall and 1-6 in conference play. The Red Devils return home to face Johns Hopkins University at 7:00 pm on Wednesday night.
